Johanna Girard, a graduate of Pasadena's Art Center College of Design, has 35 years of experience as a commercial storyboard illustrator, portrait painter, and art educator. Her training has enabled her to tackle a wide variety of projects, such as architectural renderings for builders and interior designers, storyboard art for the advertising industry, and costume concept sketches for the 1993 World Blues Festival. Girard has painted hundreds of commissioned portraits, including the wedding portrait of Hawaii's Governor Benjamin Cayetano and First Lady Vicky Cayetano. Girard’s illustrations have been produced as open edition prints and sold in stores such as Target, Marshalls, and Crate and Barrel. Her fine art paintings have been sold through galleries in Hawaii and Los Angeles. Her latest artistic obsession is creating surface pattern designs for textiles and wallpaper. She enjoys learning this new skill to add to her techniques.
